What makes us unique is our creative approach to problem solving.

Solving the problems of today’s Fire Service takes creativity. Solving the problems of those who call upon us is our number one priority. Those who engage us come away asking themselves why. Unfortunately, the traditional models do not work in today’s Fire Service. Getting back in the box is not an option. Our members, on calls, expect to diagnose the situation, and therefore create solutions the traditional services are not expected to contemplate. Subsequently, we take the road less traveled.

Why are we unique?

Just look at the numbers. Clearly, the number of Squads in any fire department is traditionally low. Therefore, most departments reserve the squad positions for the most creative and skilled members in rescuing. If you examine the controversy the competition for seats on the squad creates, you will probably find squad company members do have higher skill levels where it counts. While all members of the Fire Department possess the elements of what it takes to be good or even great, the squad requires great skills daily. We are called upon to look for other options on the scene quickly no matter what situation. Creating openings where none exist is expected. If there is more than one way of accomplishing a given objective, we find it.

What is at stake drives our why.

Rescuing the rescuers is demanded. Consistently, we are asked to go above and beyond any members riding on another unit without the aid of a hose line when other companies have reached their limits. Going beyond the highest ladder to retrieve people in trouble at the highest heights, we do that. We are prepared to go to the lowest depths, below where any ordinary fire fighters are asked to go.
