Busy Wednesday for Morningside
Wednesday June 20th was an exceptionally busy day for the Morningside Volunteers. Throughout the day, Company 27 responded to multiple serious auto accidents, shootings, and a house fire. In the early afternoon, Rescue Engine 27 responded to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge for reports of a serious auto accident. Units that initially arrived on scene found a tractor trailer that rear-ended a boom truck and several vehicles on fire. At the time of the accident, workers operating from the boom truck were suspended under the bridge and became trapped. Rescue Engine 27 worked together with PGFD, the District of Columbia, Fairfax County, and Alexandria to rescue the workers suspended from the bridge and to extinguish the multiple vehicle fires. Later that same day, Engine Company 27 operated on the working fire dispatch for a house fire with reported entrapment in Company 37’s area. In addition, Ambulance 27 and Engine Company 27 operated on several serious medical calls throughout the day including two shootings.
