Sunday, August 15, 2010 0348 After clearing a box assignment at the previous location minutes ago, Engine 271 was just a couple of blocks away from quarters before the box was filled for the same location at 8914 Autumn Way in the Tanglewood section of Clinton. Engine company 25 and Rescue Squad 40 were on the scene and filled the box for a kitchen fire with extension into the cockloft area. Engine 271, dispatched as 3rd due, arrived 2nd and assumed the second due engine company responsibilities. Crews inside encountered said conditions, and knocked down the bulk of the fire. Engine 271's crew assisted with hooks and extinguishing hot spots. Command scaled back the incident holding Engine companies 25 & 27 along with Rescue Squad 40. Engine 271 returned to service an hour later.
